Famous "Bear on the Wall" Mining (Ausbeutetaler) Taler of Duke Alexander Carl of Anhalt-Bernburg, 1861. A handsome and scarce silver mining taler featuring the crowned heraldic bear of Anhalt-Bernburg striding along a crenellated masonry wall. Sharply rendered architectural details and finely engraved fur contrast attractively with deeply reflective, prooflike fields. The opposite side bears the inscription commemorating the blessing of Anhalt's mining industry, with crossed mining hammers beneath the date. Scattered delicate hairlines and minor contact marks are visible under magnification, but the coin retains impressive brilliance and considerable visual appeal. An attractive Mint State specimen from the final years of the Anhalt-Bernburg duchy, struck in a mintage of only 10,000 pieces! Amazing collectible and investment coin!
