From AI: Alsace, located in the eastern part of France, has a rich and diverse history due to its strategic location at the crossroads of Europe. During the time this coin was minted, Strasbourg was a Free Imperial City, meaning it enjoyed a degree of autonomy within the Holy Roman Empire. The coat of arms of the Free Imperial City of Strasbourg featured on the obverse of the coin, supported by two lions, symbolizing strength and power. The reverse of the coin depicts an ornate Fleur de Lys within a circle, showcasing the artistic and cultural influences of the region. The Taler was a widely used silver coin in Europe during this period and was valued for its consistency and purity.
