Netherlands — Wilhelmina Silver Openwork Gulden Pendant, Date Removed, Probably circa 1940–1950
A pendant fashioned from a Dutch silver gulden depicting Queen Wilhelmina. The surrounding field and almost the entire inscription have been cut away, leaving the portrait within a narrow circular border retaining the original beaded rim.
The portrait remains connected to the border at the base. A suspension ring passes through a pierced tab retained at the top. Portions of the original Dutch coat of arms and inscription remain visible on the reverse.
The date was removed during the cutting process. The underlying coin belongs to the Wilhelmina gulden type issued between 1922 and 1945.
Probably converted into jewellery circa 1940–1950. Comparable Wilhelmina coin jewellery is documented from the German occupation and the years following liberation; the individual history of this example is unknown.
Coin metal: .720 silver.
Gross weight: 5.53 g.
Original coin diameter: 28 mm
