V.V.V. Leiestreek – “Jordane van mijn hert”
Obverse: Map of the Leie region stylized as a painter’s palette, showing Gent, Sint-Martens-Latem, Deurle, Astene, and Deinze, with heraldic shields left and right. Inscription: “JOR DANE VAN MIJN HERT – V.V.V. LEIESTREEK.”
Reverse: Blank.
Context: This medal celebrates the cultural and natural beauty of the Leie region in Flanders, an area renowned for its artists’ colonies, particularly in Sint-Martens-Latem. The poetic inscription “Jordane van mijn hert” (“Jordan of my heart”) expresses the deep attachment to the river and landscape that inspired generations of Flemish painters.
