Historical Context:
Issued by the commune of Ixelles (Brussels) for a local competition held in the Boondael district in 1927, this medal commemorates a civic event celebrating decorated shop windows and flower-adorned façades. Organized by the local group “Les Holleblokjes”, it reflects the interwar emphasis on urban beautification and community involvement. The obverse presents classical and nationalistic symbolism, including the lion of Belgium.
