Roman Silver Romano-British Dragonesque Brooch, ca. 1st-2nd Century AD. Of characteristic dragonesque form, with a thin, flat, S-shaped body terminating in two opposing zoomorphic heads, each with large, upright ears and a tightly curled snout. The body decorated with surviving areas of green and yellow enamel. Dragonesque brooches are generally regarded as Celtic in style rather than Roman or Classical, reflecting the persistence of indigenous Celtic artistic traditions in Roman Britain.
