Extremely rare AR damma, Abdallah II (early 900s) w/name split, Habbarid Sindh, India (F&T 23)

Shahada // Allah / Muhammad / rasul / Allah al-Amir / ‘Abd (" Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of God, 'Abd"). 13mm, 0.50 grams. Mint 3. Fishman/Todd (2018) #HS23.

Very rare type, rated RR in Fishman/Todd.

‘Abdallah’s name at the bottom of the reverse sometimes appears as “‘Abd”. However, it seems that the name is not abbreviated, but split, so that its second part (the word “Allah”) appears at the top – it is likely that it is meant to be read as a continuation of “‘Abd” at the bottom. Such an arrangement is presumably meant to represent the respect for God, with “Allah” on top and “‘Abd” (slave) on the bottom) (GG: AS -)
