EN : The Slovak National Uprising lasted from August 29, 1944, to October 28, 1944. As the German armies retreated on the Eastern Front, it aimed to overthrow the pro-Nazi Slovak government of Stefan Tiso. The insurgents quickly took control of the center of the country. By September, German troops had regained the initiative and eventually eliminated the poorly equipped and outnumbered insurgents.
