LOUIS XIII LE JUSTE Type double tournois n.d. R2 Messing
Obverse : VVLTV. QVO. COELVM Buste à droite de Louis XIII [n°95], type Guéant Prieur 90A
Reverse : SERVAT. QVAM. CONDIDIT.
EN : This is the example that illustrates the type in the Guéant Prieur. This token must date from 1625. The legend VVLTV QVO COELVM makes little sense if we omit the continuation of the verse from the Aeneid TEMPESTATESQVE SERENAT. Taken as a whole, the verse translates as “With a face that calms the sky and the storms”
