Crown topped by a cross., Date and denomination in ethiopian., Graded NGC AU58. Top pop, NGC's finest graded example! Extremely rare pattern. Not listed by Gill, who reports only a single specimen of the Mahaleki and considers the coin to be the last to leave the Harar mint before Menelik II captured the city in EE 1887 (1894). It is also Ethiopia's first modern coin. No current mintage will be made at this value of 2 Mahaleki. From Baldwin's sale 91, September 2014, no. 3365.
