Stylized head of Apollo right., Horse galloping on the right, surmounted by a charioteer; below, a vertical lyre., Extremely rare type, probably unpublished: missing from the Delestrée. There is a superb profile with Apollonian facial traits and a pearl necklace, the style of which could correspond to the first Seno-carnutes issues before they adopted more stylised portraits, in particular the so-called "ornate cheek" and "luniform" portraits. In fact, these portraits are associated with the type with the charioteer and the lyre seen in the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, which is perfectly recognisable on the reverse of our example. This is a very interesting piece of Celtic coinage from the centre of France, between the Seine and the Loire, where the features of the type show a superb appropriation of a Greek type still preserved with the observe engraving, combined with a reverse much more interpreted in the Celtic style of these same Greek coins.
