Lion with long curved tail springing right, attacking bull kneeling to left with raised head, and biting into his hind quarters; Θ above, stylized acanthus flower below dotted exergual line., Quadripartite incuse square, the interior compartments with irregular granulation., Graded NGC Ch XF Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Incredible representation with bluffing style. The high reliefs and the perfectly centered strike pay tribute to the magnificent engraving. All the details are visible with great finesse. It is a specimen of superb beauty. Desneux dates these strikes between 510 and 500 BC, specifying that they may be earlier (around 530-520), and some sales descriptions place them around 480-470 BC. We have therefore chosen a large time period that includes these hypotheses.SNG ANS 10, HGC 3.1, 383; Desneux 78 (D76/R71).
