Crowned bust of Victoria, left., Denomination and date surrounded by a floral design., Victoria’s portrait is based on the “Gothic Crown” type design by engraver William Wyon. Only the date 1862 appears on these coins, which were struck between 1862 and 1874 and feature nearly fifty variations. The Bombay mint developed a system of dots to indicate the exact date of issue. Thus, this coin bears four dots above the lower floral bud, below the date. A very attractive specimen, graded MS 62 by NGC.
